50 years hotel Das Central in Sölden

It was a momentous occasion when the doors of Das Central hotel officially opened for its guests for the first time in December 1969. It was the moment that passion became a calling. We often ask ourselves: How exactly did it start 50 years ago in Sölden in the Ötztal valley? Das Central was born when the three owners of the local ski lift company, namely Gurschler, Falkner and Riml – also known as the 3 Hussars – decided to build a hotel to boost the image of Sölden.

Host Angelika Falkner speaking about 50 years hotel Das Central

“A 50th anniversary is an ideal time to pause and reflect. And this is true for our hotel Central as much as it is for people. I look back gratefully on what I have experienced and look forward to everything the future has in store for our establishment. Although the look and infrastructure have been changed and sometimes reinvented over the course of five decades, the core values remain the same. Das Central is a place of togetherness, where people meet and feel at ease. Regardless of whether they are guests or employees. The basis for this is a luxurious environment, where those all-important moments of human interaction play a crucial role. These make up the soul of our hotel and keep our guests coming back. I consider myself very lucky to have overseen this development for 40 years and to have found my calling here.”
