In 2015, Sölden and the ice Q were shooting locations for the James Bond film SPECTRE. Ever since the British secret agent remains a well-established figure in Sölden: The unique cinematic installation 007 ELEMENTS at the Gaislachkogl is dedicated to Bond. Sölden is the only ski resort in Austria to feature three 3000-meter peaks accessible by cable cars. And, you can conquer them all in one day! High-Alpine skiing experience
From the Giggijoch to the Gaislachkogl, from the Tiefenbach to the Rettenbach glacier: the 145 kilometres of pistes in Sölden connect peaks and glaciers. Starting at the highest point on the glacier, it is an exciting 15 km to the valley floor – in a single run.
The Gaislachkogl experience
Athletic skiers appreciate the Gaislachkogl for its varied downhill runs. At the same time, it stands for extraordinary mountain moments thanks to 007 ELEMENTS and the gourmet restaurant ice Q, presided at the top of the windblown 3,048m summit.
Giggijoch: Great for beginners
The Giggijoch ski area is ideal for beginners, with its wide slopes of gentle inclination. Here, skiers of all levels can enjoy pleasurable runs. Experienced skiers will have a great time carving down the hills with wide C-shaped turns.
Glacier ski areas
Sölden has two glacier skiing areas – the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers – guaranteeing plenty of snow, with skiing from October through to May. Each year, the Rettenbach glacier also hosts the Alpine Ski World Cup Opening. You can reach the area comfortably via the lift connection known as the “Golden Gate to the Glacier”.
Feel the freedom
Off-piste skiers and ski tourers will find endless, untouched slopes with up to 2,000 metres of vertical drop and varied terrain in Sölden. But safety comes first! Such tours are only recommended with qualified, local guides.
